Surfing Sunsets

December sunset south of Rosarita, Mexico
One of the best parts of surfing are the sunsets. The white sand, the lapping water, the hues of orange and red that seem to reside nowhere outside the water-lined horizon. After a day of paddling out and riding a few waves in, the serenity and brilliance of a surfing sunset is often what pushes a surfing vacation into the "surreal" category.

And if you wait a minute, the hues of the sunset will change, ever so slightly. The Red Sox santa hat adds a nice touch, I think.

Not all surfing sunsets need deep and light shades of magenta, pink, blood orange, and fiery red to make an impact. Sometimes a few wispy clouds and an epicenter of light can create a spectacular end to a difficult but rewarding day.
